About Us

Minimal & Modern started in 2014 as a furniture shop built on values that never went out of style: fair pricing, thoughtful materials, and people-first service. Founded by Elena and Marco Ruiz, it was never just about furniture it was about the feeling of finding a piece that fit your space, your budget, and your life.

In 2025, after over a decade of running a hands-on, customer-centered business, the Ruiz family stepped back. They passed the project to Jordan Lee, one of their earliest customers, later a designer and friend of the brand. Instead of relaunching the storefront, Jordan chose to evolve it.

Minimal & Modern is now a design journal: a place to share ideas, explore styles, and get curious about how we shape the spaces we live in.

What We Do Now

We write about home, style, and the small choices that make a space feel personal. You’ll find inspiration, practical how-tos, and honest observations from people who’ve tested these ideas in real homes, sometimes through trial and error.

Whether you’re figuring out how to refresh a hand-me-down piece or just wondering if that wood tone will clash with your floors, we’re here to explore those questions with you.

Why the Change?

Over the years, we realized something: people weren’t just shopping for furniture — they were asking deeper questions.

“How does this hold up?”
“What goes with what?”

“What should I do in a small space?”

Instead of pointing people to a product, we wanted to offer real answers. So we stopped selling and started sharing. The journal is our way of keeping the spirit of the original shop alive, just in a different form.
